Guy Looking Through Eye Equipment | EMS

Enhanced Medical Services (EMS) has purchased the Tarpon Springs, FL based Vision Systems Inc. (VSI), becoming the largest reseller of ophthalmic equipment in the United States. This the third acquisition in three years for the steadily growing company and doubles their inventory, annual sales, and employee base. EMS has also purchased Burton Ophthalmic Inc., VSI’s private label ophthalmic equipment line.

“This deal not only gives the EMS team greater reach in the industry, but is also beneficial to our customers,” said Tony Genovese, Founder and CEO of Enhanced Medical Services. “They’ll now have access to a wider selection of new and pre-owned equipment, and our service teams will be enhanced by the combined knowledge and resources.”

In the terms of the deal, all VSI employees were retained and the owners of VSI will remain with the company. VSI will currently operate as a division of EMS.

“EMS has long been a company that we have admired and respected,” said Jeff Wheaton, President of VSI. “When we decided to pursue this transition, we wanted a company that shared similar ideals and business values. We are very happy to pass the baton to Tony and his team to continue the VSI tradition of high-quality sales and service.”

The Burton private label line of ophthalmic equipment will be added to the EMS line-up of products with the acquisition. This extensive line of lane equipment includes chairs, stands, slit lamps, and more.

“The addition of the Burton line to EMS’s current selection of new equipment creates a extensive product offering,” said Sal Troiano, Vice President of VSI. “This, along with our vast inventory of pre-owned equipment gives customers a comprehensive selection of ophthalmic equipment to choose from.”

With the addition of VSI, EMS now has facilities in St. Louis, Missouri, Chicago, Illinois, Houston, Texas, and Tarpon Springs, Florida.
