Enhanced Medical Services (EMS), a leading provider of quality new and pre-owned ophthalmic equipment based in St. Louis, MO., announced today the acquisition of Star Ophthalmic Instruments, Inc., a Midwest leader in ophthalmic equipment sales and service for 28 years. This transaction marks the second acquisition made by EMS in the past 18 months, after previously acquiring Universal Ophthalmic Instruments, Inc., in April 2014.
“We are proud to partner with Star Ophthalmic Instruments, who over the years has established a stellar reputation in the ophthalmic community for quality service,” said Tony Genovese, President and CEO of EMS. “This partnership demonstrates our commitment to broaden our reach in the Midwest markets and extend our unique service standard to this important region of the country.”
EMS offers an array of diagnostic, laser, classical and service solutions, representing some of the most well respected manufacturers in the ophthalmic equipment industry, including Topcon Medical, Haag-Streit/Reliance, Reichert, Keeler, Volk, Heine, Canon, and others. Along with new equipment, the company also offers refurbished pre-owned diagnostic and lane equipment from leading manufacturers like Carl Zeiss Meditec, Nidek, Heidelberg Engineering, and more. By selling both new and pre-owned ophthalmic equipment and employing a unique consultative approach, the company differentiates itself from other providers and positions itself to comprehensively meet each customer’s needs.
“Like our colleagues at EMS, Star Ophthalmic Instruments operates with a singular, straightforward goal – offer our customers the highest quality products and services at a competitive value,” said Dan Reberski, CEO of Star Ophthalmic Instruments, Inc. “As part of this new relationship, I will serve as President of the Chicago division of EMS, while my wife, Denise, will serve as Vice President, allowing us to continue to maintain the longstanding customer relationships we’ve developed over the years.”
